Laid out along the banks of the River Vartry, Mount Usher has been designed in the Robinsonian style. Trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants have been introduced from all parts of the globe and are planted in harmony with woodland and shade loving plants.

One of my favourite gardens in Ireland with a wonderful selection of plants, especially the very fine collection of trees which includes quite a few rarities. The head gardener has done an amazing job in the last few years, following the original Robinsonian (wild-ish!) feel while keeping it very well maintained.
Must get back there in the Spring.
While not cheap at €7.50 an adult, the gardens are a great place to bring kids - I had some of my best games of army here as a kid! It's also a good place to stretch your legs after lunch in the Garden Café (located at the entrance to the gardens). A really nice day out.
I was here last weekend for the first time and I really liked it. I don't know too much about gardens, but there were loads of nice plants, and the small suspension bridges over the river were cool.
