Despite being central to some interesting historical locals and great fishing, as well as general farming and mining, Kadina itself is nothing special. The local people are often rude, unhelpful and very local-centric. If you are an outsider, no matter how long you've lived in Kadina, you will always be treated with indifference and neglect. By all means visit Kadina, explore the museum, shop, look around, but whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE HERE! You will be about as welcome as a fox at a fur convention.

My wife and I have dedicated our lives to this place, volunteering, working in the community (I as a Teacher and She as a Cop), but the whole experience has been a huge disappointment, largely due to the attitude of the locals. I directed local Youth Productions for both the High School and The YP Players and yet, for all my efforts not only was I not personally thanked or acknowledged, but some in the community actively sort to undermine me. One person even made up extraordinary lies concerning me.

I have lived all over the country, but nowhere have I struck people as selfish as these gossiping troglodytes. If they decide they don't appreciate you for whatever reason, they will target you. To say that their behavior is bizarre is an understatement. But in case you think we are the only ones, pretty much everyone we know who have come here to live have left bitterly disappointed, mainly due to the inexplicable behavior and attitude of these backward people. They are happy to take the money from tourists, but don't expect polite, respectful service or even a smile when you come here to shop or live.

It is a real shame because the Yorke Peninsula is an amazing place, with lots to see and do.
